After leaving your accomodation, we travel towards the charming Douro Valley.
Starting from Provesende, one of the six Wine Villages in the Douro region, you will have the opportunity to traverse this wine valley on foot and understand how Man and Nature coexist in perfect harmony along the banks of the Douro River.
The trail is relatively easy, a 6-kilometer linear route towards the river port village of Pinhão. This walking tour takes only 1 hour and 30 minutes and is mostly downhill, making it perfect for a family day tour, or for more adventurous wine lovers.
As we follow the trail, you will be involved in endless vineyards and wine picturesque villages, such as S. Cristóvão do Douro. We will have time to pause, take photos and enjoy all the magic this Unesco World Heritage site has to offer. After short-break we will continue this lovely trail through terraced vineyards until we finally reach the bottom of the hill and encounter the beautiful Roman Bridge of Pinhão. As you approach Pinhão from Provesende, the upper part of São Cristovão unfolds, with majestic almond trees gracefully lining the route.
After concluding the walking trail, we will drive to a prestigious and family wine estate in Ervedosa do Douro, Quinta do Ventozelo. You will be enjoying a delicious picnic lunch in vineyards while delighted by the Douro river views. You will have the chance to taste 3 Ventozelo wines and discover portuguese delicacies in full harmony with nature.
After lunch, we invite you to a guided visit on the property vineyards and interpretation centre that will allow you to understand Douro Valley natural surroundings and Douro wine culture.
We continue our tour, visiting the wine village of Pinhão, located on the right bank of the Douro River. Among the main heritage is the Railway Station, built during the 19th century and well known for its tiles depicting the production of Port wine.
On Pinhão docks you will enjoy a 1h river cruise on the Rabelo boat. It is a traditional Portuguese wooden cargo boat that was used for centuries to transport people and Port Wine along the river.
On the way back we will have the opportunity to stop at Casal de Loivos viewpoint for photos and making memories together.
After the viewpoint we will drop you at your accommodation.
